CoMET is responsible for delivering a large variety of learning and education throughout the East Midlands.
All of the CoMET team undergo specialist Induction, and training programs with the aim to develop experienced, competent and autonomous practitioners. The service runs various annual internal training days, in collaboration with our regional Neonatal Transport team, covering transport specific training incorporating clinical skills, equipment training, scenario trouble shooting and health and wellbeing. All of the team are encouraged to participate in monthly case discussions and contribute towards clinical practice development by writing guidelines and undertaking audits and research. This research has previously been showcased at National and International Conferences by these individuals.
Throughout the region a comprehensive program is delivered to our referral centres. CoMET delivers a Nurse Outreach Program, focused on providing knowledge and skills required to stabilise and prepare Critically Ill Children for Transfer for escalation in care. This over the years has developed into a series of workshops, lectures and simulation training. CoMET, also continue to run a Stabilisation Network Event, attended by paediatricians, intensivists and anaesthetic trainees along with nurses and other allied professionals from throughout the Region. These days again focus on Stabilisation priorities in care for a range of different Critical Illnesses, and encourage our Referral colleagues to Network with other referral Centres, share best practice, discuss cases and learn from specialist teaching.
CoMET also works collaboratively with our Tertiary Centres, and Operational Delivery Networks to Support and enhance Level 2 & 3 Care throughout the Region, delivering in situ Training Days to both Emergency and Acute Teams within the East Midlands.
